Hello everyone!!   We still need some bodies for bag-packing at Booths on Saturday – at least 5 per session. The current rota is below; please email me if you can do one of the quieter slots.

BAG-PACK ROTA

If anyone is available at 4pm today at school (Year 10-13 students and/or parents), we are going to have to load the van with all the Wind Band equipment instead of tomorrow morning. Any help would be greatly welcomed!!!!

Just a reminder that the brilliant 2016 UVHS Panto, The Three Little Pigs, is on Monday evening at The Coro.  It starts at 7pm and lasts about 45 minutes – entry is just £2 on the door (cabaret seating with bar facilities before and after).

Also a reminder to some of the Friends of UVHS Music that they volunteered to run the door on Monday and need to be at The Coro by 6.30pm.

We are in desperate need of mince pies and a few good raffle prizes for Tuesday  –  can you help?????  Only 2 packets of pies are currently in the office – we probably need 60-70 packets – although we do have 3 good raffle prizes already.

Also, only 6 adults have so far volunteered to bag-pack on Saturday 17th December (there will be a few Year 13s filling in where needed, but we must have a majority of parents), where we would hope to be able to make enough money to complete the fundraising for the Wind Band tour.  Please email Mr B a.s.a.p. on rbu@uvhs.uk to volunteer a time slot – we need at least 6 ‘bodies’ each slot

We also need parents (and Year 13s) to volunteer for bag-packing in 90 minute shifts between 10am and 4.00   –    10, 11.30, 1 & 2.30.  Preferably, at least 6 in each shift.  Please email Mr Butler if you can volunteer to help  –  rbu@uvhs.uk.

This is a copy of the letter being given out this week to all students performing in the concert on 13th December.  It details all the arrangements for the rehearsal at The Coro on the day as well as instructions for the evening.

A reminder that there is a Friends of UVHS Music meeting tomorrow evening at 6.30pm in the Meeting Room of A Block.  All are welcome.

Also  –  Swing Band have their first public outing of the year on Saturday at the Dickensian Festival.  Theatre Street Stage from 4pm – 5.20pm  –  please come and support them.

Unfortunately, the Friends meeting postponed from last week to tomorrow (15th Nov) will have to ne postponed again due to ill health  –  many apologies.

The meeting is now scheduled for Tuesday 22nd November at 6.30pm in the Meeting Room (old staffroom) of A Block.  As usual, all are welcome to attend.

Unfortunately, Mr Butler will not be in school on Tuesday or Wednesday this week, however, all rehearsals are still going on as normal with the exception of Wind Band which will be taken by Mrs Heginbotham and finish earlier than usual at 4.30pm.

Just a few things:

1. Coniston Embroidery have just announced that they will be putting all prices up for uniform items from 14th November, so if your child is in the Wind Band and still needs to get a shirt for the Christmas Festival (Rhine Valley, 2017), if your child is going on tour and might want another band shirt and/or ‘supporter’s shirt’ (with their name/nickname embroided on the back), or if your child is in Year 11/12/13 and wants a VIth Form Music Hoodie, then please take advantage of the lower prices this week if you can:        https://www.conistonshop.com/Ulverston-Victoria-High-School_169/school/index.php
2. Tickets for the Christmas Festival are going well  –  499 sold in the first week, so just over 100 left. If you haven’t got yours yet don’t leave it too long!!
3. Unfortunately, I am having to postpone the Friends meeting scheduled for this Tuesday (8th Nov) until the following week  –  Tuesday 15th November at 6.30pm in the school meeting room.  All are welcome: we will be discussing the management of the Christmas Festival (and then putting out the usual plea for raffle prizes and mince pies), the music day at Booths, the Wind Band tour to name but three things.
