Wow!!!!!!!!!!

What a concert last night!!!! What a weekend!!!

Well done to all students involved in this weekend’s concerts with the Royal Marines – I am SO proud of each and every one of our musicians! The videos of the concert are now live: the UVHS Wind Band set is here UVHS Wind Band With HM Band of Royal Marines Scotland 2024 (youtube.com) (gives the students a chance to see what the Corps of Drums was doing during the Olympic Fanfare), and the Massed Band set is here The Massed Band of UVHS and HM Band of Royal Marines Scotland 2024 (youtube.com) (including the encore of Highlights from Barbie).

Thank you so much for those kind words Win. I am delighted that you and your sister enjoyed it, and thank you for all the support you have given us ovt the years – without people like yourselves my job would be a lot more difficult. Thank you and see you at the next concert!!!

Another fantastic, amazing weekend of music-making. When Rob joined the Marines, he said he always thought the visiting bands were just making them feel good, telling the UVHS students how good they were. Once he started doing school trips, he realised just how good the school bands really were and how privileged he had been in his musical education. Richie was expressing his wonder at a relatively small town producing so many amazing players. He said it is not just the technical expertise, it is how engaged the young people are with their music, which is so wonderful.
Thank you Richard, for the enthusiasm, vision, training and love of music which you instil in your students.

Thank you Helen (and Rob) – that really does mean a lot, although the credit really must go to our amazing students, music staff and the parental body. I must also say how proud I am of Rob and all the other students who have gone on to professional playing careers in the forces – I am still quite envious!!!!! Thank you for all your support.
