Anyone from yr11-13 who wants to go on the Royal Marines ‘Look At Life’ course from 13th-17th February MUST get their names to me by Friday – if you have already spoken to me and said you want to go you need to tell me again!
Yr10 will get the chance in May (29th-2nd June) and/or October (23rd-27th)
Just a reminder that tickets are now on sale via The Coro website provided that you create an account first (if you do not already have one) and then use the password Festival22. Tickets will be available to the general public from Monday.
Although The Coro’s booking system goes live for the general public on Monday 31st October, parents/family/friends of students who are performing have access to ‘pre-sale’ tickets this Saturday & Sunday provided you give a password when prompted – this is Festival22.
This year’s Christmas Festival will be on Wednesday 14th December at The Coro, starting at 7.30pm (although Junior Band will be playing from 7.05pm). All of our music groups are already working hard on the programme, and I must say it promises to follow our pre-Covid tradition of spectacular seasonal productions.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday 31st October, but families of performers will get the opportunity of advance online purchase (as we are expecting a sell-out audience) on Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th. I will publish details here, including a password to access the pre-sale, on Thursday 27th October, as well as the official poster for the event – we would be very grateful if you could upload the poster to your social media sites in order to publicise the concert as widely as possible.
Many thanks to those parents (and a grandparent!) who attended the ‘Friends’ meeting yesterday evening. This was the first meeting in almost 2 years and it was great to be able to update our stakeholders on the current situation of Music in the school as well as discuss not only next year’s proposed tour to France, but also future tours.
More details of the meeting will follow shortly, but the main element is that in order to secure concert tours in future years we need to set a fundraising target (which excludes the main concerts) for the rest of this academic year – with that in mind we will launch a busking competition between the ensembles (and any other groups that may wish to form) on the run up to Christmas. As said, details about the target and the reasons for it will be published in a few days, so that everyone has an understanding of participation and expenses.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 15th November at 6pm – if you have any ideas for fundraising, especially ones that do not require any financial input from parents but involves businesses and/or the general public please come along and share them.
All yr12 & 13 students involved in the Performing Arts at school (in any capacity) are able to purchase our very own ‘UVHS Sixth Form Performing Arts’ hoodies – these are personalised and also sponsored by the Band Service of His Majesty’s Royal Marines. Please use the link below:
