Monthly Archives: February 2020

Oh well … best laid plans and all that!

Due to the ‘snow day’ today, Wind Band is obviously not on this afternoon, and the GCSE Performance exams are also postponed – these will now take place TOMORROW MORNING.

Attached is the text of the letter which was to have been given out at band today – please notice the slight change of times of rehearsals to compensate for today.

This Week – w/b 24th February

We have an extremely busy half-term ahead of us, so please make sure that rehearsal and concert dates/times are in diaries (or on fridge doors!). The main events this week are:

MONDAY:  solo guitar/drum/piano GCSE exams in the afternoon; Wind Band after school (a letter will be given out with all the arrangements for the Marines weekend).

TUESDAY: ensemble piano GCSE exams morning and afternoon. Percussion Ensemble rehearsal at lunchtime.

WEDNESDAY: solo GCSE exams (with piano accompaniment) in the morning and afternoon, as well as ensemble singing exams in the afternoon.

FRIDAY: GCSE ensemble drum exams in the morning. GCSE Drama exams in the afternoon – no Swing Band rehearsal after school.

Swing Band – tomorrow (Friday)

Tomorrow evening’s Swing Band rehearsal will be extended until 5pm.

There is no rehearsal on Friday 28th due to GCSE Drama exams taking place, which leaves only the 6th March to get prepared for the Swing & Dance Band concert with the Marines at The Coro on 13th March – TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE FROM MrBUTLER.

New National Plan for Music Education – request for evidence

Yesterday the DfE launched a consultation on the National Plan for Music Education. Please could everyone take a little time and fill in the questionnaire on the link below? All stakeholders are asked to complete the survey (parents, students, teachers etc.) in order to help give a broad picture of the state of music education throughout the country.
