Rehearsals for the Tour Band are as follows:

Tomorrow (Thursday): 3.30-5.15pm

Friday: 3.30-5.15pm  (NO Swing Band)

Tuesday: 3.30-5.30pm

Wednesday:  3.30-4.45pm

Those parents able to help at the Summer Concert, please let me know. We need a couple of people to take money on the door as well as 4 or 5 on the raffle. You will need to be at The Coro by 6.40pm as doors open at 6.45pm  –  thank you.  Also, if anyone has a spare nice raffle prize going spare, please consider donating it … we already have 4 good prizes so only need a couple more.

Also, a reminder that performing uniforms are:

Junior Band: school uniform/no jumper (except for Swing Band players)

Swing Band: black uniform

String Orchestra:  school uniform/no jumper (except for Wind Band players)

Wind Band:  pink band shirt/black bottoms & shoes

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Not only on a great gig in Grange today, but also on a great year from the Band. Unfortunately, however, it is that time of the year when we have to say goodbye to the yr13s in the band. I can honestly say that this group of young adults have been absolutely amazing to work alongside over the last 2-8 years (depending on when they arrived … and how long they stayed!) and they will be sorely missed.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of them for the phenomenal amount of time and effort that they have put into Music at UVHS, and I hope that thy have taken a lot back in return. If there is one thing I would like them to remember, it is “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Reach For The Stars” because they are “Simply The Best!”. It might be cheesy, but….

So, to sign off for the Swingers Class of 2019 (although they will still get a cameo appearance at the Summer Concert), just one more quote with a slight change:

“And now the end is near, and so I reach the final [cadence]…!” We love you all!

As tomorrow is meant to be warm at Grange (although no necessarily sunny), uniform will be black Swing Band shirts on top, and shorts or whatever students want on the bottom!

Could everyone also try to remember to bring a few clothes pegs with them?

We have finally been able to sign the contracts for the concerts in Italy!!!!!!

Saturday 13th July – Ponti sul Mincio (Area Marconi)

Sunday 14th July – Verona (Parco San Giacomo)

Monday 15th July – San Zeno di Montagna (Piazza Risorgimento)

Tuesday 16th July – Pastrengo (Piazza 4 Novembre)

This letter went out at this evening’s rehearsal to all students going on the Italy Tour – it is imperative that the parents’ meeting next Monday is attended by an adult representative for each student (students can come as well).  Those not at the rehearsal (numbering 24 in total!) will have their letter posted out first class tomorrow. Please could ALL players make sure that they are at all rehearsals from now on????  If some yr11s or yr13s are away at any point, please let me know.

Please find attached the letter that has gone out to Junior Band and Wind Band detailing the arrangements for the Summer Concert on Mon 8th July – it will go out to Strings tomorrow.

Please share these two posters amongst friends and on social media so that we can get big audiences, especially at the Summer Concert.

On Sat 15th and Sat 22nd  June the Little Big Band have gigs at ‘The Old Friends’ and Eccleriggs (CGP Broughton) respectively. The following players are in the band and need to attend rehearsals this Friday and next Friday from 3.30-4.45pm. If anyone is unavailable please see Mr B. as soon as possible.

15th – arrive at The Old Friends by 7.15pm. Finish at 10.30pm                                                     22nd – arrive at Eccleriggs by 5.45pm. Finish at 7.40pm

Please find attached the dates for all the various rehearsals (including all the additional rehearsals for the Italy Tour Band), concerts AND the Parents’ Meeting for the Italy tour.

Please try to ensure full attendance at every rehearsal that applies. Every student going to Italy MUST be represented by an adult at the meeting on 24th June.
