Well done to the Swing Band following the first formal concert of the year. I thought that everyone played extremely well.

Special congratulations to all the ‘debutants’ – and sorry if you had to sight-read several pieces!!!!! (‘every day is a learning day’!)

The poster for this Saturday is attached – please could everyone help to publicise it by putting it on social media outlets?

Tickets are now available for the Royal Marines Social on Friday 1st March.

This is a brilliant evening with one extended set from UVHS Swing Band and then an extended set (or 2 sets) from the Marines Dance Band – lots of dancing and partying!

Swing Band players WILL be fed as well but do not need tickets as they are playing.

Feel free to invite friends/relatives  –  although we will ONLY sell tickets directly to students/parents, there is no limit to how many tickets each student/parent can buy.

Tickets are £10 each including pie’n’peas supper – ONLY available from Mr Butler

All rehearsals will resume tomorrow –

lunchtime music ensembles are preparing for upcoming GCSE performance exams;

various ‘Hairspray’ rehearsals will be taking place throughout each week (production mid-March) – students must check the rehearsal board outside the Performing Arts office;

Wind Band preparing for the Marines concert in 8 weeks and then the Italy Tour;

Swing Band has first engagement in 3 weeks;

dance groups preparing for the Dance Platform, Brewery Dance and ‘Hairspray’.

Best wishes to everyone, and a reminder that there is a Friends Of UVHS Performing Arts meeting on Tuesday at 6.15pm in the Memorial Meeting Room. All are welcome to attend and help us in our fundraising plans for 2019.

The meeting usually lasts about 1 hour.

A reminder to the LBB that we are playing at The Olde Mill (Bardsea) tonight – arrive at 7pm, finish 9.45pm but the party continues until 11.30pm-ish. As this is a ‘rotating band’, any other players can also bring their instrument (or just mouthpiece) and swap seats.

Also, taxi drivers (parents!) are more than welcome to stay – there is ample food.

A reminder to Chamber Choir  that they must be at The Coro at 6.45pm and will finish by 7.30pm.  Dress is smart black and/or white.

Please could those parents who are helping to sell programmes and raffle tickets tonight be at The Coro  by 6.40pm as we need to open the doors by 6.45?

Does anyone have a spare Wind Band shirt (the pink one)?? A couple of players have orders that have not yet been delivered.

If so … please bring them to school tomorrow morning – otherwise it’s my XXL shirts they will be wearing (as dresses!!)

Just a reminder to all parents AND students about the arrangements for tomorrow (please pass on this info either tonight and/or in the morning to jog their memory):

all the performers in tomorrow’s concert are going for an early lunch at 11.45am (end of p3). Years 7-10 must go to the dining room for food and will then be registered in the Cloister before walking down to The Coro at 12.25pm. Years 11-13 will be registered at The Coro at 12.40pm before the rehearsal starts at 12.45pm.
