It looks like the weather will be kind to us tomorrow, so ‘Bangers on the Green’ is on!!! Please spread the word to family/friends/colleagues – feel free to share the Facebook posts.

Mrs B. will be doing a BBQ for the band as well, so players just need to bring drinks – everyone else, bring a picnic (and there may well be left over BBQ as well!).

Please could the band arrive between 1.30 and 1.40 to organise the running order? Parking is on the edges of the Green (both bits). Please wear band shirts & dept hoodies (if you have one).

Due to the increasingly poor weather forecast on Sunday we have postponed the Little Big Band’s picnic gig at Lowick to Saturday 31st May. Same band, same set list … but dry (we hope)!

Having been locked out of his own account since April 1st , Mr Butler has finally got back in (with the technical assistance of Mr Stamp).

No Swing Band rehearsal this Friday (following their excellent gig at Greenodd last week – recordings to be published soon). However, Little Big Band IS rehearsing preparing for their gig in Lowick on Sunday (which we hope will not be rained off as the Butlers have already bought all the food to feed the band!).

Swing Band are playing one extended set at the Social on 25th April, followed by 2 sets from the Marines Dance Band. Tickets are £10 each from the Music Department and include pie’n’peas (selection of fillings). We MUST know numbers by Tuesday 22nd April (first day back after Easter) at the very latest, so if you haven’t yet purchased yours please do so asap (swing Band have a rehearsal on Thursday after school), or at the very least, let rbu@uvhs.uk know you are intending to come (and pay him before the event).

32 students have been invited to join the massed band for the finale of the concert on 26th April – they each received a letter today about rehearsals on Friday 25th (after school @ The Coro), and the rehearsal on Sat 26th. A copy of the letter is below:

Fantastic rehearsal this afternoon – definitely looking forward to the Marines’ visit in a few weeks! During the rehearsal the following letter was given out to all Wind Band players informing you of the arrangements for the concert on Sat 26th April.

A reminder of the rehearsals this week and straight after Easter in preparation for our weekend with the Marines. We need full attendance at all rehearsals wherever possible (we still can’t play 2 of the Wind Band pieces!!!).

Tickets are now on sale for the UVHS Swing Band/Marines Dance Band social evening at The Coro on Friday 25th April. They are only available from the Performing Arts office and are priced at £10 each (which include a pie’n’peas supper courtesy of Del.ish in Barrow). Swing Band players do NOT need a ticket as they are performing.

ALL students must be accompanied by an adult if they are attending the evening due to licensing regulations, but there is no limit on the number of tickets one family can buy – feel free to bring family/friends; this will not be a publicised event.

Cash or cheques payable to ‘Friends of UVHS Music’ please. Numbers are restricted so don’t miss out on what is always a brilliant evening.
