Well the summer break certainly flew by didn’t it? However, it was certainly needed after the hectic year we had, culminating in the amazing concert tour to Italy. And now we move on as usual to the new year, Mr Butler’s 31st at UVHS, and we want it to be bigger and better!!!

The calendar section of this site has been updated with the confirmed dates that we already have in the diary – please make sure you make a note of them. Further information on tickets for events at The Coro and our trip to see Miss Saigon in Manchester in November will follow.

Rehearsals begin straight away from next week and details are below. The full weekly rehearsal schedule for Music/Dance/Drama will be published during next week…

Wed 3rd & Thu 4th      –  Little Big Band (3.30-4.35) – last year’s band

Fri 5th                                –  Swing Band (3.30-4.35) for Grade 5+ players

Sat 6^th                               –  Little Big Band Gig @ Lowick Show (4pm-6pm)

Mon 8th                            –  Wind Band (3.30-5.00) for Grade 3+ players

Wed 10^th                          –  Little Big Band (3.30-4.35) – new line-up; invite only

Fri 12th                             –  Swing Band (3.30-4.35) for Grade 5+ players

Tomorrow’s Wind Band rehearsal after school has been cancelled due to both ill health and yr11 Prom.  However, the additional Flings and choir rehearsals WILL be on at lunchtime – if yr13s could get in for those that would be great (obviously yr11s may not be able to).

Looking forward to the concert on Thursday!!!!

Well done to all the players in Little Big Band last night – although we all got drenched just before the end I thought it was a great gig. If any parents/friends have got any decent photos and/or videos please could you send them to me (rbu@uvhs.uk or on the FB page)?

OK – forecasts are still mixed depending where we look, so…. we re going to try and go ahead (especially as we’ve had quite a few cancelled gigs and difficult weather gigs as well). However, it may well be that we end up not starting OR having to stop early – or it might be absolutely fine.

Please could band members get there before 7pm to help set up and keep everything as dry as possible if it is raining.

We are currently monitoring several different weather forecast sites hoping that most are lying about the anticipated rainfall in Ulverston. The Old Friends are putting up their big gazebo this morning so there will be cover for us, the equipment and music. If there are any changes I will notify parents/students here.
