There will be a ‘Friends’ meeting next Tuesday (13th) at 6.30pm in the staffroom at school. We will, among other things, be reviewing the CHristmas Festival and planning the coffee morning that we have on Sat 14th Feb at The Coro. All are welcome
Tomorrow’s Wind Band rehearsal is cancelled (as it is the first day back and about 1/3rd of the band will probably forget anyway!!). Could I just say how very proud I was of all the performers at the Christmas Festival last month – I have received countless messages from members of the community congratulating all the students.
Don’t forget – we have a coffee morning at The Coro on Valentine’s Day!!!
Don’t forget – if you can, please send your child to tomorrow’s rehearsal with some mince pies. Any that are left over will go to local a retirement home.

Sorry for the additional post, but it has become clear from talking to a couple of students that letters have not been read and/or not gone home. Attached is the letter regarding arrangements for the Christmas Festival that was given out to ALL members of the wind band, junior band and choir during the week beginning 1st December.
A reminder that tomorrow (Saturday) is our music day at Booths. Instrumentalists are to wear Wind Band uniform, everyone else Christmas jumpers!

On the letter about the arrangements for the Christmas Festival that went out to Wind Band on Tuesday – and will also go to Junior Band tomorrow and Choir on Friday – I forgot to mention that Year 7 participants will still be able to go on their theatre trip: they will be dropped off at The Coro by the buses on the way back from Lancaster and join the rehearsal from that point.
Also – new members of the band will need to either buy a shirt from me (£10 each) in the music office OR borrow one from a current band member.
Apologies for the typo last week – the Friends of UVHS Music meeting is on TUESDAY 2nd (not Monday) at 6.30pm in the staffroom.
Many apologies, but I will have to postpone tomorrow evening’s ‘Friends of UVHS Meeting’ due to family ill health. The meeting will now take place NEXT Monday (Dec 2nd) at 6.30pm in the school staffroom.
We need to discuss the Christmas Festival – planning the staffing of the raffle, programme sales and, hopefully, CD sales – as well as fundraising for the Austria tour in 2016.
There will be a friends meeting next Tuesday (25th) at 6.30pm in the staff-room. All parents are welcome to attend – we need to find new avenues of fundraising in order to support the development of music within the school, as well as to subsidize the 2016 tour to Austria.

A reminder that, due to the school production of ‘Oh What A Lovely War!’ next week, there will be no Swing Band rehearsal this Friday (7th Nov) and no Wind Band rehearsal on Tuesday (11th). Tickets are still available for the show on 11th & 12th Nov from The Coro Box Office.
Tickets for the Christmas festival on Tues 16th Dec are going fast.
