Happy New Year to all students/parents/families involved with music at UVHS.  I hope you all had a good Christmas and are well set for 2016.

A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who performed and held buckets at Booths on 19th December – we raised £875 in the buckets during the 6.5 hours of performing  –  a fantastic effort on everybody’s part.

On Monday 22nd, the Chamber Choir and Sax Ensemble gave a fantastic afternoon concert at St Marys Hospice, and we handed over not only 100 mince pies and 4 bottles of sherry (kindly donated by Mr Miller and the Harrrell Lane Co-Op), but also the £536 raised in the collection following the Christmas Festival  –  which I hope everyone enjoyed.

Finally  –  the next Friends meeting will be on Tuesday 12th January at 6.30pm in the Meeting Room in A Block (old staffroom).  All are welcome to attend, with the main agenda item being the Marines concert in May  –  tickets will go on sale in February and there will be a ‘pre-sale day’ for parents to buy them.

Many thanks for all the support given in 2015 and here’s to a successful 2016.

All students are to wear Christmas jumpers and whatever they want as bottoms – if adults have Friends of UVHS Music t-shirts then that would be great, but don’t worry if you haven’t.

Finally, a huge ‘well done’  to all the students involved in the Christmas Festival on Tuesday and Prizegiving on Wednesday. Performances were superb and I am very proud of every single student’s efforts.  Thank you also to all parents for the incredible support that you always give – both to your children and to music at the school.

• the Wind Band shirts have arrived!! – students can collect them at the additional rehearsal tomorrow after school
• could members of Friends of UVHS Music please be at The Coro by 6.40pm on Tuesday so that programmes/raffle/DVD sales can be ready as the doors open at 6.45pm  –  if you have a Friends t-shirt please wear it

• The Royal Marines have just confirmed a joint concert with the Wind Band on Sat 7th May  –  tickets will go on sale early Feb (there will be 1 day for pre-sale to parents)

The new ‘Austria 2016’ Wind Band shirt is now available to buy online through the following link.  If you are a new member of the band you MUST have a royal blue band shirt for the Christmas Festival on 15th December, whether or not you are going on the tour next July.  in order to get all the shirts by Friday 11th Dec you MUST order the shirt(s) before this Friday (27th Nov)

Tickets for this year’s Christmas Festival (15th December) will go on pre-sale to parents and subscribers to this blog this Friday and Saturday before going on sale to the general public on Mon 2nd November. The following password must be given in order to get tickets on pre-sale.

UVHS Christmas Festival

Pre-Sale of Tickets

Tickets for this year’s Christmas Festival are only available from the Box Office at The Coronation Hall, and go on sale to the public on Monday 2^nd November (through internet booking, phone booking, postal booking or in person). We expect all tickets to be sold out within a few weeks.

However, parents of students involved have the opportunity to get their tickets early, through pre-sale, on Friday 30^th and Saturday 31^st October.  These are ONLY available in person from the Box Office and with a password (there is no maximum number of tickets one person can purchase).  The password will be published HERE before Friday 30^th October.

• Bring a set of clothes to change into
• Bring some money for food and possibly a programme and/or a packed tea
• After school, change out of your school uniform (toilets or Drama Studio)
• Meet in front of school (in the bus layby) at 15:50, with your bags
• Coach leaves at 4pm
• We will stop on the way for you to get some food and there will be refreshments & sweets available at the Opera House
• Hope to return to UVHS at about 00:15 (although there might be a road closure on the A590 that forces a diversion)
