URGENT NOTICE!!!!!!!

Really sorry, but due to unavoidable personal circumstances, I have to cancel tonight’s Friends meeting.  As the coffee morning is next week we have no time to change the meeting date so here are the arrangements for the coffee morning:

We will need donations for a cake stall, raffle and tombola  –  please can these be brought to my office by Friday 17th (raffle and tombola) or to The Coro by 9.15am on the Saturday morning (cakes, raffle, tombola). We need as much as possible to make it as profitable as we can, so please try to donate some items.

We will also need volunteers on the day to help with the coffee-making and to run the stalls, from 9am – 11.30am, including Year 10-13 students if they have finished their exams. Please email me at rbu@uvhs.uk if you are available so that I can cover all areas.

Friends Meeting & Coffee Morning

We have a Coffee Morning at The Coro on Saturday 18th June  –  this is the last fundraiser before Austria so I would hope that at least all participants on the Wind Band Tour will be able to contribute in some way through either their presence and/or donations  –  we will be asking for items for the cake stall, raffle and tombola to name but three tables, so please watch this space for exact requests.

In order to prepare for this and finalize tour arrangements, the next Friends of UVHS Music meeting will be on Tuesday 7th June starting at 6.30pm in the Memorial Meeting Room in A Block.  Could I remind all parents that they are all welcome to join The Friends – it is not a big commitment but does make a big difference to the work of the Music Dept.  We need new members next year, in particular someone to volunteer to take over as treasurer from September.

If you require more info, please email me: rbu@uvhs.uk

Clothing Orders

I have just taken delivery of a box of shirt and hoodie orders from Coniston embroidery.  Could students please collect from the music office tomorrow morning break?  I will NOT be in school from 12.30 onwards as I’ll be at The Coro.

URGENT! All Students Playing in the Massed Band

The Marines have just rung me to ask if every member of the massed band can bring a paper copy of their parts for the joint items to the rehearsal tomorrow, Saturday and for the concert on Saturday.  If each player could print off their parts from each of the PDFs I emailed them that would be great.  For ‘With Valour They Fall’, the Marines will bring parts as I only sent a score, and there is one more piece that I have now got that I will give out tomorrow.

Schedule for Marines Weekend & and intro to the Band Service

For everyone involved on the 6th & 7th  –  Wind Band players, Swing Band players, Percussion Ensemble and those invited to be in the Massed Band – please see the schedule below for Friday and Saturday.

MARINES WEEKEND

Could I also point out the ‘Welcome to the Band Service’ from Trevor Naughton (Head of Recruitment) on Saturday at 12.30pm in The Coro.  It would be great if as many students (& parents if they are interested) could be there for his short introduction to the Marines Bands – it is not a hard sell at all, merely an insight to a career than most may not have considered.

I would hope that all the members of the Massed Band would be there (if nothing else but to recognize the great opportunity that this weekend is providing each one of them), my Year 10 GCSE students who are going on work experience in a few weeks time, and any younger students in the bands who may wish to take advantage of work experience in the future (we always offer the opportunity to Year 10 GCSE students to go during February or May half-term breaks).
