Tickets for this year’s Christmas Festival (13th December) goon pre-sale to parents & staff this Friday and Saturday (28th & 29th October).  On these two days, they can ONLY be obtained in person from The Coro Box Office (no phone sales or online sales), and you must quote the following password:

Tickets go on general sale to the public on 31st October.

The live calendar on this blog has just been updated – please check that you have recorded relevant dates.  There will be more Swing Band engagements as well as a possible chamber concert in Spring and a Royal Marines weekend at the end of May.  Meanwhile…

Welcome back to the new school year (my 22nd year at UVHS – get less for murder!). Ann and myself hope you all had a great Summer and that students and parents alike are geared up for the new year.  We would especially like to welcome Mr Vogler to the Performing Arts Department as Head of Drama – he already has great plans for lessons, trips and shows (‘Me and My Girl’ at the end of March!!!).

Also – congratulations to all those who took their GCSEs and A Levels. A lot of hard work went in across many subjects.

A few notices:

• Swing Band re-starts THIS Friday at 3.30pm in the Main Hall (finish at 4.35pm), just to get those cobwebs out of the instruments!!
• All rehearsals begin from Monday 12th (Wind Band is on Tuesday from 3.30-5pm) – the schedule will be published later this week.

• We have just produced 15 new canvas photos for the Music/Drama corridor featuring Wind Band, Swing Band and the production of ‘Carousel’ and will therefore be getting rid of the canvases that have been displayed for the last 3 or 4 years.  If any of them feature your children and you would like them, then they can be yours for a small donation to Friends of UVHS Music.
• The first ‘Friends of UVHS Music’ will be on Tuesday 20th September from 6.30pm-7.30pm in the meeting room at school.  All parents are welcome (don’t be afraid!) – we could do with some new members, but don’t worry – it’s not an onerous task!!
• Information on this year’s tour will be coming out in the next couple of weeks

This afternoon’s rehearsal has had to be cancelled due to circumstances out of our control  –  we will be packing equipment between 9am and 10.30am this morning if anyone is able to come in and help.

See you all in the Drama Studio with all your bags at 8.30am tomorrow

Reminder – there is a rehearsal for the tour band tonight from 3.30-5pm.

Please could members of Friends of UVHS Music (and anyone else who may wish to help out) be at The Coro by 6.45pm tomorrow at the latest??  We need to be taking money on the door (2 selling points) as well as selling programmes and raffle tickets.

If possible, could the yr11s and yr13s in Wind Band please come into school early for the band rehearsal on Tuesday. We need to sort out all the music that was handed in last week  –  if you could come to the Drama Studio at 2pm, that would be great (I’ll provide biscuits!!).  The more people we have the quicker and easier it will be.

Also, there are a handful of you who have not been to a rehearsal in weeks – please make sure you attend!!!
