Attached is a reminder of upcoming engagements.

Due to the weather forecast for tomorrow, students were told this evening that it will be a reduced band performing at the Market Cross. The gazebo at the Cross cannot cover the whole band, so there will be no flutes or violins, reduced sax and trumpet section (all the students know if they are playing or not).
I am sorry if this is a disappointment to the students not playing, and/or their parents, but I must make sure that instruments, music, electrics (and students) do not get wet.
The new Wind Band shirts (with ‘Belgium 2020’ on the left breast) are now ready at our suppliers and can be purchased here. If you need a shirt please order it asap and it will be delivered to school.

Wind Band uniform consists of pink polo shirt (above); black trousers/skirt; black shoes/socks, and ALL players must be wearing this at the Christmas Festival. Should you already have a shirt from last year with ‘Italy 2019’ on it that is absolutely fine as it is still a pink polo with the correct sponsor logos on it.
Members of the Sixth Form in any musical groups are also able to buy the personalised Sixth Form Music hoodie through the link below – yr11 musicians are also now allowed to purchase these.

The timings of our performance at Dickensian (Saturday 23rd) have been changed – players now need to get to the Market Cross at 3pm to set up (we are scheduled to play from 3.20-4.40 with the switch-on of the lights at about 4/4.15pm).
This is NOT a uniform gig – simply dress WARM and wear whatever style of gloves enable you to play your instrument!!!!
Please check the calendar on this blog for up-to-date engagements.
Welcome home to the 7 students who went on work experience in Portsmouth with the Royal Marines last week. The Marines have said that they were all brilliant and a real credit to the school and their families – hope they all had a great time!
Any musician wishing to go on work experience with the Marines next year can do so if they are 15 years old or above and playing beyond grade 5 standard on their instrument(s). The next 2 courses take place during February half-term and May half-term, Mon-Thurs. The Marines pay all transport costs as well as accommodation and full board.
Any student interested should see Mr Butler for an application pack.
Please share the poster below on social media so we can sell the last batch of tickets. If you have not yet got your own tickets, visit The Coro website as soon as possible http://corohall.co.uk/uvhs-christmas-festival/

The deposit for the Wind Band Tour to Belgium in July 2020 has now been paid to our concert agent, so it is now going ahead. If there are any other players who wish to go but have not yet paid their deposit it is not too late – simply get it paid via Parentpay as soon as possible OR bring a cheque and consent slip into school.
REMINDER to all those students interested in coming on tour to Belgium with the WInd Band next July – the deadline for deposits (£80 per student) is this Friday. Payments to be made via Parentpay or the return slip on the letter accompanied by a cheque payable to ‘UVHS’.
A reminder to the sixth-form students involved that Chamber Choir has a rehearsal in A11 tomorrow at 1.25pm-1.50pm.
Rehearsals will be every Tuesday and Friday in form time.
The password for pre-sale tickets on Friday and Saturday is ‘Festival25’.
