Girls U15 Netball: The team consisted of a mixture of year 9 and 10 girls with a whole range of abilities. Successfully we won 8-4 against Dallam and were ahead from the very first whistle. A assertive win and a real confidence boost due to this being our first South Lakes competition out of our area. (Date: 24th September)
Girls U16 Netball: We had the opportunity to play Dallam ‘A’ U16 first team. Unfortunately we lost 2-17, however the standards was very high and players remained focused, in control and motivated. We played a full timed game and it was a very good experience and standard for the U16 team to aspire to reach in the near future. (Date: 24th September)
Girls 14: English Schools Netball Cup. This was a round robin tournament played at Furness Academy against 5 other local schools; with the successful winning team going forward to the county tournament. Due to ability we entered a younger year 8 team to compete. Overall they participated well and drew one match; a good experience. (Date: 25th September).
Year 9 boys won their first competition since year 7, by winning the Barrow Schools 7-a-side competition. They managed a 1-1 draw with Dowdales before beating Chetwynde 4-0 to make it into the final against St Bernard’s. The final ended up going to sudden death penalties and was won by a fantastically taken Tom Jackson penalty.
Year 8 and 11 boys continue their run in both the County and National cups after winning ‘double-header’ games against Dallam school. Year 8’s won 7-3 and the year 11’s won 2-1. Good luck in the next round boys.
