U/12 Bunbury Cricket Knockout Cup

On Tuesday the 30th April, a Yr 7 UVHS team came up against a very strong Millom School team in the first round of the Bunbury Cup. The game was played on Millom’s artificial wicket and in the right spirit. UVHS batted first and started with the worst possible start, losing a wicket to the very first ball of the innings, then another 2 wickets in the very next over leaving UVHS on 0 for 3. Daniel Horne and Danny Jones came together and gave our innings some backbone, before both getting out towards the end of our overs. After our allotted 16 overs UVHS had scored 37/8 and found the going very difficult against some excellent bowling by the Millom boys.
We started much better with the ball and Alistair Howie and Danny Jones bowled a good line and length in the early overs. Unfortunately for UVHS our bowling was a tad wayward at times after the early overs making Millom’s job much easier to get the required 38 for victory, which they did off 10 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. The 1 wicket fell to a really good catch by Danny Jones off the bowling of Alistair Howie, but our opposition was just too strong on the day.
