The letter below has been given out in Swing & Wind Band rehearsals (although some may not have got home!!!):

This letter will be going out to all groups/performers next week:

Featuring the Flute Choir, Brass Ensemble, Clarinet Choir, Sax Ensemble, Flings Junior Band & Choir…

Just a few messages about rehearsals….

1. There is a Flings rehearsal this Wednesday after school, and there will be another next Wed (22^nd) as well as on the 29^th – this is to ensure that we are ready for the Chamber Concert on Wed 6^th May.  Please could we have full attendance? Any problems please let me know.
2. Swing Band will rehearse on Friday after school – this is our ONLY rehearsal for the Marines event on Fri 24^th.
3. Next Monday after school MUST be a full Wind Band rehearsal as it is the last one before the Marines concert on Sat 25^th April – this afternoon’s attendance was a little disappointing and we were unable to rehearse the full programme due to absence which is really worrying.  Please ensure that everyone is there.
4. Swing Band & Marines Dance Band joint gig – there are still tickets available for the Marines’ Social event on Fri 24^th (£10 from the Music Office including pie’n’peas).
5. If any families have any raffle prizes they can donate for the Wind Band/Marines concert on the 25^th please send them in to the Music Office.  Last year the raffle brought in £1000 which is vital fundraising income.
6. If any parents are willing to help man the doors on Fri 24^th at The Coro (7pm-8pm) I would be very grateful – this needs to be a strict ‘ticket only’ event.  Likewise, we need assistance selling raffle tickets on Sat 25^th as well as giving out programmes.

The time has come!!!!

Tickets are now on sale for the UVHS Swing Band/Marines Dance Band social evening at The Coro on Friday 24th April. They are only available from the Performing Arts office and are priced at £10 each (which include a pie’n’peas supper courtesy of Del.ish in Barrow). Swing Band players do NOT need a ticket as they are performing.

ALL students must be accompanied by an adult if they are attending the evening due to licensing regulations, but there is no limit on the number of tickets one family can buy – feel free to bring family/friends; this will not be a publicised event.

Cash or cheques payable to ‘Friends of UVHS Music’ please. Numbers are restricted so don’t miss out on what is always a brilliant evening.

Tickets have just gone live for the Wind Band’s joint concert with the Royal Marines on 25th April.  For those that have not experienced this, it will be a spectacular concert that students and audience will never forget.

It will go onto social media shortly, so if you want to guarantee your seats, buy now (it is always a sell-out) – tickets also make great Christmas presents for relatives, especially grandparents (so I am told!!!).

The 2025 UVHS Christmas Festival – The Coro

Well the summer break certainly flew by didn’t it? However, it was certainly needed after the hectic year we had, culminating in the amazing concert tour to Italy. And now we move on as usual to the new year, Mr Butler’s 31st at UVHS, and we want it to be bigger and better!!!

The calendar section of this site has been updated with the confirmed dates that we already have in the diary – please make sure you make a note of them. Further information on tickets for events at The Coro and our trip to see Miss Saigon in Manchester in November will follow.

Rehearsals begin straight away from next week and details are below. The full weekly rehearsal schedule for Music/Dance/Drama will be published during next week…

Wed 3rd & Thu 4th      –  Little Big Band (3.30-4.35) – last year’s band

Fri 5th                                –  Swing Band (3.30-4.35) for Grade 5+ players

Sat 6^th                               –  Little Big Band Gig @ Lowick Show (4pm-6pm)

Mon 8th                            –  Wind Band (3.30-5.00) for Grade 3+ players

Wed 10^th                          –  Little Big Band (3.30-4.35) – new line-up; invite only

Fri 12th                             –  Swing Band (3.30-4.35) for Grade 5+ players
