On Tuesday 10th December, around 100 year 10 students from schools across Furness will be visting Lancaster University Physics Department.
After eating in one of the university cafeterias the students will be treated to a lecture on anti-matter by CERN physicist Dr Roger Jones. This will be followed by a tour of the physics research facilities and some spectacular demonstrations.
After a quick tour of the general campus the students will be bussed back to Furness, all courtesy of the Ogden Trust.
Year 10 students interested in taking part should contact their physics teacher in school.

The Furness Ogden Trust Partnership welcomes back Richard Lake and his inflatable planetarium.
The dome will be at Furness Academy on the 24th and 25th October and we are expecting over 500 students from 5 different schools to be involved.

Dr Keith Robinson makes a welcome return to the Furness and South Lakes Astronomical Society with a talk entitled ‘Finding objects in the night sky’.
Although a professional astrophysicist at Salford University, Keith regularly observes the night sky through a ‘small’ telescope. His talk will provide a good follow-on from our beginners sessions held last autumn, and covers everything you need to get on target with your observing.
