See below – more details available from Mr T
STEMFirst are working with the Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project (MAP) (see http://blackseamap.com/ ), and we are seeking 16 students studying STEM subjects at A level (or equivalent) to become its STEM Scholars. Scholars will be joining one of the largest multi-disciplinary maritime archaeology projects ever attempted. They will explore research questions about sea-level change, marine palaeo-climates and marine archaeology in the Bulgarian Black Sea and carry out their own projects.
This exciting programme aims to give research and expedition opportunities to students who would not usually get access to such experiences.
The project is to allow students from disadvantaged backgrounds / first generation considering HE / low income families , to take part in a life changing opportunity to work with the University of Southampton and go to the Black Sea on a research trip in September 2017.
Students will need to register their interest http://bit.ly/bsmapregistration and then complete an application form (including a short written assignment) with a parent consent form and a teacher reference. The application form, further details and eligibility criteria can be found on the Black Sea MAP website: http://blackseamap.com/application/
Deadline for applications is 9am Wednesday 22 February 2017. Teachers are welcome to nominate students through the on-line registration form.
