Physics in the Field at Holker Festival

For the last three years, UVHS students have helped out the Institute of Physics at the Holker Garden festival, doing ‘Physics in the Field’ with the many passers by. Lots of interesting demos are included as well as rocket making and firing.

IMAG0857It is a long but enjoyable day and time is available to have a wander around the Festival and sample the many food outlets available. (Lunch will be provided).

If you fancy helping out, boosting your CV at the same time, talk to Mr Thompson to arrange travel and other details.

Guide to University Finances

The dropbox folder here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/svedmfukaqj1raf/AAD9pqGwBmFVNCJdjVKI5WH2a?dl=0 contains two guides from The Ogden Trust on University Finances.

They are geared towards students planning on studying physics but there is useful general information too.

They are a must read if you are planning to go to Uni after year 13 and I’m sure your parents would like to see them too.

Mr T

The details can be found on the link: http://www.physics.lancs.ac.uk/schools/work-experience/

They are are intending that this is a residential experience at no cost to students. There are 15 places available.

Last year’s applications far exceeded the number of places available. The personal statements varied considerably so please discuss your personal statement with your physics teacher.
