There are a couple of changes to rehearsals over the next two weeks in preparation for the Marines Concert on 27th May:
Tues 16th May – rehearsal finishes at 4.25pm due to GCSE Drama Exam Performance at 4.30pm
Tues 23rd May – rehearsal finishes at 5.15pm
Thur 25th May – ADDITIONAL REHEARSAL with Ruth Wardle (Royal Marines solo violinist, ex-UVHS). Rehearsal finishes at 5pm
After half-term, it is essential that ALL students going on tour attend ALL rehearsals.
Please could all members of the Swing Band try to make sure they attend tomorrow’s rehearsal – not only is it our last session before both the Millom concert and Marines Social, but we are also expecting Harry King from Radio Cumbria who wants do some recordings and also interview a few players for a programme next month featuring the band. There is also a chance that some of our stuff could get onto Radio 2 as it did 2 years ago, getting onto the Clare Teal show.
Friday 19th – Millom Palladium (Rotary fundraiser). Please be there at about 7pm for set-up and to arrange the pads. Finish at 9.30pm. Entry on the door
Friday 26th – Coro Hall with the Marines. Please be there at about 7pm again for set-up and sound-check. Doors open at 7.15pm. Finish at 10.45/11pm
There are still a lot of ‘Form Cs’ missing – the compulsory Cumbria County Council health and safety form. Please return them as soon as possible – I have attached a copy.
Some students also need their final balances paying for the tour – I will send out some polite reminders tomorrow.

A reminder that the reduced combo is playing at The Coro this Saturday for the NSPCC Ball. Arrive by 6.10pm; playing from 6.30-7.45pm.

There are only a handful of tickets left for the Royal Marines Social on Friday 26th May at The Coro, featuring our own Swing band and the Marines’ Dance Band, 7.15 – 10.45pm-ish.
£10 each including pie’n’peas supper. Cabaret seating.

Wed 19th July – Zu Gast im Brunnenhof, Brunnenhof, Trier (19:00 – 20:15hrs)
ALSO – there is ‘Friends’ meeting on Tuesday (9th May) at 6.30pm in the Meeting Room in A Block. As usual, all are welcome to attend as we prepare for the Marines Weekend as well as the Summer Concert and Tour. We are desperate for a volunteer to take over as treasurer as Louise Steur will be standing down after the Summer Concert – please, please, please could someone step forward (it isn’t too onerous a task – honest!!)
