U14 Cricket Round 3 v Dowdales

With an almost full strength UVHS team picked, confidence was high that we could play our way into the business end of the competition.  Dowdales stood in our way though and after losing the toss, the UVHS team were asked to bat.  As both teams agreed to play 12 over a side due to the game falling on the same afternoon/evening as England’s opening World Cup game, runs started to flow nicely from the UVHS bats.  Max & Samson both retiring on 32 & 31 respectively to give the UVHS team a really solid start from the first 8 overs.  The remaining batters coming to the crease added runs to give the UVHS team a total of 96/5 from 12 overs.  The Dowdales team could not be taken lightly, but early wickets by Jack & Sammy allowed some of the boys who don’t usually get a bowl to have an over.  Although the Dowdales batters did their best, a final score of 56 runs for 6 wickets from 12 overs fell well short of the UVHS total.  A Semi-Final against Nelson Tomlinson School in Wigton now awaits the team in early July.

Well done.
