Sixth Form Football – 24th January

The U18 football team travelled to Brampton near Carlisle to play William Howard school in the County Cup quarter-final.

They started very well and dominated play in the first half, playing some tight one-touch football in the middle of the park.

Their good play paid off when Matthew Pearson managed to take the ball around the keeper and finish from a tight angle.

UVHS continued to dominate but couldn’t put the game to rest. In the last 5 minutes, William Howard equalised, forcing the game to go to extra-time and eventually penalties.

All 5 UVHS players scored their penalties and the keeper, Thomas James pulled off a great save to ensure victory.

They now play Trinity School at home in the Semi-Final.

We are going to Twickenham!

UVHS have been selected to play in a curtain raiser for the England v France 6 Nations game, next Saturday!

15 Year 7 pupils will be travelling to London next Friday (after school) and playing in a tag rugby tournament, then forming a guard of honour for the National Anthem. We will then stay and watch the game and travel back on the Sunday.

Well done to the 15 girls who have been selected and we will keep you updated with our adevnture!Rugby
